LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS: INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION ALPHA (ISSA)

Oxygen: Cryogenic tanks.

Carbon Dioxide Control - Regenerable 4-Bed Molecular Sieve. CO2 Reduction by Sabatier reactor.

Trace Contaminant Control - Activated Carbon and Catalytic Oxidizer

Temperature and Humidity Control - Condensing Heat Exchanger (CHX)

Water - Hygiene water, urine distillate, and humidity condensate form a combined waste stream. Urine is first treated by Vapor Compression Distillation. The combined wastewater stream is reclaimed using Multifiltration (MF) with Aqueous Phase Catalytic Oxidation as post-treatment. Disinfection is achieved using Microbial Check Valve (MCV) cartridges.
