I like the idea of us sponsoring one show a month. I don't subscribe to
iTunes and, if it weren't for the regular e-mails from David, I'd probably
never remember to tune in. Many times I have to miss the show because of
meetings, class, etc. so having a way to post some questions beforehand and
find out the answers and a summary of the talk afterward would be nice -
maybe on our proposed blog. I'm also unlikely to check the website unless
something in Downlink reminds me to do it (like registering for the ISDC!).
I think I'm pretty typical of our members who have the computer know-how to
do these things but lack time to tune in or check websites on a weekly
basis. So having a once-a-month show that we'd remind our members about in
our Space Settlement e-mail and/or Downlink would probably generate the most

Posting David's podcast is a good start and I'm sure he'd be thrilled, but
it might be a little redundant, since anyone with iTunes (the dominant
podcast subscription service) can easily find the Space Show podcast there,
as well as on the Space Show Web site.
Pursuant to Marianne's idea, perhaps we could propose that one show per
month be devoted to a strictly space settlement focus, done in affiliation
with NSS.  An analogous arrangement is how Ira Flatow hosts the Friday
edition of NPR's "Talk of the Nation," thus creating "Talk of the Nation:
Science Friday."
We'd cross-promote the show on the NSS site and the blog, and NSS would in
turn get "airtime."

directly with his show - and it is really a great show. Rather than reinvent
the wheel, why don't we look into combining forces (and audiences) and do
the blog/podcast in cooperation with The Space Show? We could use quotes and

to a separate space settlement blog, but unless we have a horde of
volunteers who are anxious to commit to maintaining a blog and doing a
