Stan Rosen

Dr. Stanley G. Rosen

Dr. Rosen has had extensive experience in military, commercial and civil space activities during a career spanning over 35 years. He is currently a consultant with Toffler Associates, the executive advisory firm formed by Alvin and Heidi Toffler that helps companies and governments create their future in the fast emerging "Third Wave" economy. Formerly, Rosen was Director of Strategic Development and Integration for Boeing Satellite Systems. In this capacity, he was responsible for development of Boeing's strategy for succeeding in the global satellite market, serving a wide variety of U.S. Government and international commercial customers. Prior to the acquisition of Hughes Space and Communications by Boeing, he led Hughes' ballistic missile defense architecture development and was Strategic Planning Director for the Hughes Defense Systems and Hughes Space and Communications organizations.

Before joining Hughes, Dr Rosen held scientific, engineering, program management, and strategy and policy development positions with the U.S. Air Force, during which time he worked on a wide variety of NASA, Air Force and classified space activities. His service included time on the staff of the Committee on Science and Astronautics of the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as duty with the German Aerospace Research and Test Establishment. His last position in a distinguished military career was Director of Long Range Planning, Space Systems Division, Air Force Systems Command. He retired from active duty in 1990. Dr. Rosen earned a BS from the U.S. Air Force Academy, an MS in Aerospace Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MS in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a Doctor of Engineering degree from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

He has served in various volunteer capacities with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, including chairman of the national Space Systems Technical Committee and Los Angeles Section, national board member and Vice President of Public Policy. He is a former chairman and currently serves on the board of the California Space Authority and is Vice President of the Association for Strategic Planning. He and his wife Anne live in Los Angeles, California, and have seven children.
